Denise Laurel opened up about how a cancer scare that happened to her five years ago became a humbling experience.
KAMI learned from a press conference for her latest TV project, the singer shared how the cancer scare changed her life.
"Now, I don’t take time for granted. I maximize my time with my son. If I spend time with you, that means I really value you, especially with traffic in the Philippines these days.”
Denise admitted that she was scared for her son's future at that time. Being a single parent, the former Ang Probinsyano actress is aware that she is solely in charge of Alejandro. That is why she is preparing him to be more independent.
"I’m solely in charge of him, financially, spiritually, mentally and emotionally. I’m preparing him to be independent."
"He can make mistakes, and then I’ll explain why what he did was wrong. I’ll have him choose his own path, but tell him that if he is wrong, then he should deal with the consequences. I’ll do this so that, unlike me, he won’t be afraid to live."
It can be recalled that Laurel first confessed about her cancer scare five years ago after winning the ABS-CBN talent show Your Face Sounds Familiar. Lumps were found in her lymph nodes, breasts, ovaries and at the back of her head. Luckily, doctors said that the lumps were not cancerous.
