Boy Abunda's mother Licerna "Lesing" Romerica Abunda has passed away at the age of 90 on Sunday, December 1.
The news was confirmed by Maria Fe Abunda, Boy's sister. Tito Boy confirmed that his mother had been in the hospital for weeks in an October episode of "The Bottomline."
Abunda has been vocal about his love for his mother. He published a book last 2018 called Nanay’s Gay Boy. The veteran host also delivered a speech called Dearest Nanay when he received his doctorate degree during the Philippine Women’s University graduation exercises in 2016.
Abunda's mother was a public school teacher. She also served as a councilor in Borongan for three terms from 1995 to 2004 and won as vice mayor in 2004.

Boy Abunda or Eugenio "Boy" Romerica Abunda Jr., Ph.D. in real life is a Filipino television host, publicist, talent manager, and celebrity endorser. He attended Ateneo de Manila University. He left Ateneo and worked odd jobs to support himself. At the Metropolitan Theater, he worked as a stage actor and after that, as an assistant stage manager.
