An Australian man was arrested after police recovered truckloads of stolen LEGO sets worth more than A$250,000 (P14.3 million).

Authorities in South Australia found more than 2,500 LEGO sets during a search at Royal Park in Adelaide on August 30.

About 1,700 of them were unopened. Police described it as the largest seizure of stolen goods involving a single person.

The amount of items was so heavy that officers had to use three trucks to remove everything from the scene.

Acting assistant commissioner John De Candia reminded the public that buying cheap goods from unverified online sellers encourages this type of crime.

He said the community should think twice before supporting such activities.

The case is part of Operation Measure, a program started in 2022 by South Australia Police with support from the retail industry.

The effort targets theft and aims to stop repeat offenders.

Since the operation began, more than 5,900 thefts have been reported, leading to over 2,400 arrests.

Police noted that the program has helped reduce theft cases, including a six percent drop in shoplifting and eight straight declines in reported offenses.

Authorities say this latest bust shows the importance of their ongoing crackdown on large-scale retail theft.
