A tragic incident unfolded in Paris, where a newborn baby lost its life after reportedly being thrown out of a hotel window by an 18-year-old American tourist.

According to a report by GMA News, the Paris prosecutor's office confirmed the infant’s passing and stated that the baby was "allegedly thrown from a second-floor window of a hotel" on Monday, February 24.

"The on-duty magistrate arrived at the scene. Emergency responders attempted to save the newborn, but the child did not survive," the statement read, as per People.

Authorities have since launched an investigation into the case as a "h&micide" involving a minor.

The mother, an American citizen, was reportedly traveling across Europe with a group of young adults.

Following childbirth, she was hospitalized for surgery and was subsequently placed under police custody.

Investigators are also considering the possibility that she experienced pregnancy denial, the statement further noted.

At approximately 6 a.m. on February 24, a witness informed local authorities that a baby, still attached to its umbilical cord, had been thrown from an Ibis Styles hotel, as reported by Le Parisien.
