A vacation turned tragic for a 35-year-old Filipino tourist in Hong Kong after he was fatally struck by a taxi whose driver lost control of the vehicle.

The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong confirmed the incident and said the victim’s remains are now at Kwai Chung Public Mortuary.

They expressed their deepest condolences to the victim’s family, saying they pray for his eternal rest.

The Consulate is now assisting the family and awaiting their arrival in Hong Kong to help arrange the repatriation of his remains.

The accident took place outside Nina Hotel Tseun Wan West.

Reports said the victim was carrying his luggage and checking his phone as he stepped out of the building when a taxi suddenly crashed into the hotel’s exterior.

The impact trapped him between the vehicle and the marble columns of the building.

He was rushed to the nearest hospital but was later pronounced dead. The driver, a 70-year-old man, suffered minor injuries and was taken into police custody.

He is now facing charges of suspected dangerous driving causing death.

Authorities said the driver lost control of the taxi after reportedly feeling dizzy while driving.

The investigation into the incident is still ongoing, with the Consulate coordinating closely with Hong Kong authorities to ensure proper handling of the case.

Police authorities said the school has a security guard, but, being a familiar face in the school, the suspect managed to easily get in and out of the school. The suspect said he was there to talk to his wife and settle their misunderstanding, but unfortunately, it led to a big arguement.
