A father allegedly murdered his own daughter after she refused to delete her TikTok account, according to police in Pakistan.
The horrifying incident took place on Tuesday, July 8, when the father instructed his daughter to remove her account from the platform.
In an article by People, with information from AFP, police reports revealed that investigators believed the father took his daughter’s life “for honor.”
A police official stated, “The girl’s father had asked her to delete her TikTok account. On refusal, he killed her.”

He was arrested shortly after the incident.

According to police in Rawalpindi, where the shooting occurred, the 16-year-old’s family initially tried to make it appear as though the murder was a su!cide, as reported by CBS News.
Human Rights Watch states that around 1,000 women are killed each year in Pakistan due to honor killings, which usually occur when a woman's actions are seen as going against traditional expectations, leading to severe punishment from their own family members.
