Telegraph also reported that Airi was stabbed due to an unsettled debt between the two.

Authorities shared that Takano told them he had lent Airi more than 2 million yen (approximately 770,000 Philippine pesos) to cover her cell phone fees and other personal expenses for awhile.

However, when she failed to repay the amount, the situation escalated, with Takano tracking Airi’s location through her live video, which ultimately led him to her and prompted the attack.

Various reports also claimed that Takano denied wanting to kill the 22-year-old influencer.

Airi, an influencer and live streamer from Japan, produced contents that centered around her daily living, and eventually crossed paths with Takano in 2021, according to the Daily Mail.

While Takano provided financial support to Airi, her repayment for the debts never materialized.

Eventually, Takano took legal action against Airi, with the ruling in his favor, however, no payments were made which led to the violent escalation of the crime and death of Airi.
