A 63-year-old father has decided to disown his daughter after she accumulated a whopping debt of around RM250,000 or 3.2M in Philippine peso.
Lan Chee Kong, who hails from Kuala Lumpur, said his family has already been subjected to many harassments by lenders over their repayment.

"I confronted my daughter at her home to understand why the ah long were harassing us. It was then that I discovered she had shared my identity card details with them," Lan told the press.
According to The Star, Lan has been repaying his 24-year-old daughter's debts since December and even used his savings to help finish it off.

However, despite his daughter's promise to stop borrowing, she continued taking many loans.
The story even took a huge twist when his daughter filed a police report against him as well.
Apparently, Lan's own daughter accused him of being the one who took up the debts and blamed him for the harassments by the loan sharks.
According to Lan, his daughter has a habit of gambling as well, as per New Straits Times' report.
In the report of Says, Lan shared he could no longer help his daughter repay any more debts and opted to disown and severe ties with her also.
"I can no longer help her repay any more debts. Her actions have left me completely heartbroken. That is why I am officially severing my father-daughter relationship with her," Lan explained.
During the press conference, the chief of MCA Public Services and Complaints Bureau cautioned the public about borrowing from loan sharks.
According to Chief Datuk Seri Michael Chong during the conference, "Only borrow from regulated and licensed lenders, as most ah long will resort to extortion if repayments are not met."
