According to AsiaOne, Lee and his wife, surnamed Chien, turned from witness to suspect in the murder investigation.

In a report by Taiwan News, The Taipei District Prosecutors Office detained multiple suspects and summoned Lee three times to testify in a murder case that happened at a Buddhist center in Taipei last year. On Monday, prosecutors directed authorities to search the 44-year-old actor's residence, re-summoning him for further testimony and renaming him as a defendant.

As per Focus Taiwan, Lee was released on bail set at NT$300,000 (P531,166), while his wife is out on NT$150,000 bail.

The same media outlet also reported that in late July 2024, police received a tip-off about a woman found lying motionless in a first-floor property on a residential block on Siwei Road in downtown Taipei. After arriving at the scene, police found the woman, surnamed Tsai, with no vital signs.

A subsequent autopsy determined that Tsai died of rhabdomyolysis, a "life-threatening condition that can happen after an injury or excessive exercise without rest." It is also considered a "rare muscle injury" where an individual muscles break down. 

Surveillance video footage showed that Lee, the religious group's chief executive surnamed Wu, a woman surnamed Chiang, and the victim were having a "study session" at a restaurant the evening when the incident occurred.

Authorities said that Lee, Wu, and Chiang were recorded moving Tsai's body in a trolley from the restaurant to their usual meeting spot, leaving it there without calling emergency services.

Four of the 11 suspects have been detained since January, as per Focus Taiwan.

The police likewise gave a statement regarding the K-drama star’s demise. Kim Sae-ron was known for her roles in “The Man from Nowhere” and “Bloodhounds,” among others.
