Irish actor and writer Michael Patrick has died at the age of 35, his family confirmed. The performer, who appeared in a Season 6 episode of the hit HBO series Game of Thrones, passed away while in hospice care in Northern Ireland.

His wife, Naomi Sheehan, announced his death through a heartfelt post on Instagram on Wednesday, April 8. Alongside a wedding photo of them, Naomi shared details about his final days and the illness he had been battling.
She revealed that Michael had been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease on February 1, 2023, a progressive condition that affects the brain and nerves. According to Naomi, he had been admitted to the Northern Ireland Hospice 10 days prior to his passing, where he received care from medical staff.

“It’s been said more than once that Mick was an inspiration to everyone who was privileged enough to come into contact with him, not just in the past few years during his illness but in every day of his life. He lived a life as full as any human can live. Joy, abundance of spirit, infectious laughter. A titan of a ginger haired man.”
Naomi also expressed gratitude to those who had supported them throughout Michael’s health journey, acknowledging the community that stood by them during difficult times.
“We are so grateful for every person who supported us through the last few years.”
She concluded her tribute by sharing a quote that Michael loved, written by Irish poet and playwright Brendan Behan, noting that the words felt especially fitting in light of his passing.
