Keyboardist Lim Jae Wook, a beloved member of the South Korean band The Stray, has passed away at the age of 37 after a long battle with illness. The news was confirmed by the band on September 7 through their official social media page.

In their heartfelt announcement, the group expressed their grief, saying, “Our beloved keyboardist and precious member, Lim Jae Wook, who filled the stage with us, has left our side after a long battle with illness.”

The members of The Stray revealed that they all came together to bid farewell to their longtime friend and bandmate. They shared, “All five of us who started this band together gathered to send him on his final journey. Now, we want to keep him deeply in our hearts.”

Despite his illness, Lim remained a source of strength and positivity for the group, as noted in their statement.

The band also reflected on their years of friendship and music-making, adding, “We will forever remember the times we laughed and cried together while sharing music. The melodies and love he left behind will continue to live on in our hearts and in the hearts of our fans.”

“May his soul rest in peace,” the statement concluded.

The Stray made their debut in 2014 with the digital single Though You’re Gone and later rose to prominence with tracks like You, You and Moon.

The group was preparing for their upcoming solo concert, The Stray, scheduled for September 14.

“September 14th concert will be held as scheduled,” the statement's postscript reads.

Lim Jae Wook is not the only foreign figure to have passed away recently, as reports of other international personalities’ deaths have also surfaced.

South Korean YouTuber Na Donghyun, known as The Great Library, has died at the age of 46. He was found at his home on September 6, 2025, after an acquaintance reported him missing when he failed to show up for a meeting. Police found no signs of foul play and suggested an underlying illness may have been the cause, with an autopsy planned to confirm. Na was regarded as one of South Korea’s pioneering internet streamers, amassing 1.44 million subscribers and later expanding his presence through mainstream appearances, including the Netflix show The Influencer.
