His family took to social media to announce the heartbreaking news.

“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.”

“We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time,” the announcement reads.

Just a day before his passing, the British heavy metal icon shared a poignant post.

His post displays an image of a backstage hallway with a sign that reads: “Back to the Beginning — The Final Show,” with the names of the original Black Sabbath members: Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne and Bill Ward.

It is worth noting that Osbourne’s death came just weeks after a farewell concert with the original Black Sabbath lineup. The show took place last July 5 at Villa Park in Aston, Birmingham, England.
