The upcoming fight comes more than a decade after their historic 2015 welterweight championship clash, which remains the highest-selling pay-per-view event in boxing history with 4.6 million buys. Mayweather won that match via unanimous decision, preserving his then-undefeated record.
Now aged 49, Mayweather is coming out of retirement once again. Reports have circulated about financial troubles, while the American boxer has also confirmed an upcoming exhibition bout with Mike Tyson as part of his return to the spotlight.
Pacquiao, 47, previously stepped away from boxing for four years to focus on politics, including an unsuccessful bid for the Philippine presidency. He returned to the ring last year and fought Mario Barrios for the welterweight championship, with the match ending in a draw.

The rematch is expected to draw massive global attention, not only because of the fighters’ enduring popularity but also due to the new streaming format and the unique venue. The Sphere, known for its cutting-edge technology and immersive experience, will serve as the backdrop for what many are calling one of the biggest boxing events in recent years.
Fans and analysts alike are already debating how both fighters—now older and with different career trajectories—will adjust their styles in the ring for this second encounter.
Manny Pacquiao, widely regarded as the only eight-division world champion in boxing history, remains one of the sport’s most revered figures. Outside the ring, he is married to Jinkee Pacquiao, with whom he shares five children—Jimuel, Michael, Princess, Queenie, and Israel—and he also has a son, Emman Bacosa, from an earlier relationship. Beyond boxing, Pacquiao served as both a congressman and a senator and later pursued the presidency of the Philippines. After a four-year retirement period, Pacquiao has come out of retirement and he is schedule to have a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
In a separate development, Pacquiao previously defended his family from controversial remarks made by Norman Mangusin, also known as Francis Leo Marcos, after the latter dragged his mother, Dionisia Pacquiao, into a public issue.
Earlier this year, the boxing legend marked Jinkee Pacquiao’s birthday with a heartfelt social media tribute, posting photos of their life together and thanking her for being his partner, best friend, and the foundation of their family while wishing her continued happiness and blessings.
