Senator Alan Peter Cayetano expressed readiness to lead by example if all public officials agree to resign together.

He said this while discussing his recent call for a “snap election” involving all elected officials in government.

During a press conference on October 8, 2025, Cayetano said he has no problem stepping down first, but only if others will follow.

He explained that there is no point in resigning alone because it will not solve the nation’s problems.

Cayetano admitted that his proposal sounds impossible but said that sometimes even the most ambitious ideas can work.

He emphasized that he does not want to encourage uprisings or revolutions but aims for peaceful transformation and revival.

Earlier, he shared a reflection on social media, saying that politicians today are viewed with suspicion by the public.

He then suggested that all elected officials—from the President to Congress—should resign and allow a snap election. He also said incumbents should not be allowed to run in the next election to ensure a fresh start.

In a later post, Cayetano clarified that it is not his job to tell anyone to resign. He said his duty is to reflect on the nation’s problems, pray, and share ideas that might lead to change.

Cayetano often says that the fight against corruption should not only focus on laws and legal processes but also on strengthening people’s morality and faith. He believes that good governance begins with integrity and a clear conscience.
