Ako Bicol party-list Representative Zaldy Co has stepped down from his post in the House of Representatives.
His resignation came after allegations of massive corruption tied to flood control projects and budget insertions.
Co has denied the accusations while staying abroad.
In a letter dated September 29 and addressed to Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy III, Co explained that he resigned because of direct threats to his family and himself.

He also said he was denied due process. He called his resignation irrevocable and effective immediately.
The move came after the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) recommended possible graft, malversation, and falsification charges against him.
Several Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials in Oriental Mindoro were also included in the referral.
The ICI report focused on the P289.5 million road dike project along Mag-Asawang Tubig River in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.
According to executive director Brian Hosaka, DPWH Region IV-B handled the project through Sunwest Inc., a contractor with past ties to Co.
Aside from Co, DPWH Regional Director Gerald Pacanan, Assistant Directors Gene Ryan Altea and Ruben Santos Jr., and ten more officials were included in the recommendation.
Co said Ako Bicol will inform the Speaker’s office of the nominee who will replace him in Congress. He promised a smooth transition and said his office will be cleared for the next representative.
In another letter, Co also announced that he would leave Ako Bicol for the meantime but assured that the group’s public service would continue.
He said he will return to the Philippines once it is safe and once he is ready to face the accusations against him.
