Sotto made it clear that their request was unacceptable, stressing that the siblings had allegedly amassed significant public funds. “Hindi naman puwedeng makakuha sila ng proteksyon ng gobyerno pero ang dami nilang nakuhang pera ng bayan. Unfair sa mga kababayan natin iyon,” he said. He emphasized that becoming a state witness comes with strict conditions. “Ang kailangan para maging state witness ka, ibalik mo ang ninakaw mo, magsabi ka ng totoo. Iba ang sinabi sa Senado, iba ang sinabi sa House,” Sotto added.

The Senate President further underscored the importance of credibility in such cases, echoing Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto’s remarks. “Sabi nga ni Mayor Vico Sotto, mga sinungaling sila. Hindi ganon kadali ang hiling nila,” he said.

As for the Discayas, they have denied the allegations against them.
