Luis Manzano released a statement on Wednesday, May 14, amid his vice gubernatorial race loss in Batangas.

In his statement issued on social media, Luis said he still feels like a winner after experiencing the warmth and love of many Batangueños.

“Mga kababayan kong Batangueño, Hindi man tayo pinalad sa resulta ng halalan, panalo pa rin ako, dahil sa inyo,” he began his statement.

“Sa bawat ngiti, kwento, at yakap na ibinahagi n’yo sa kampanya, mas naramdaman ko ang tibok ng puso ng Batangas. Mas napalapit ako sa inyo. Mas nakilala ko kayo, at iyon ay habang buhay kong babaunin.”

The actor and TV host went on to express his earnest gratitude to all his supporters, his family, and God.

“Salamat sa mga supporters, sa pamilya ko, at higit sa lahat, sa Diyos na naging gabay sa buong laban.”

He further reflected, “Masigla at napakasaya ng kampanya dahil nakasama ko kayo. At kahit tapos na ang eleksyon, ito ay umpisa pa lamang ng matagal pa nating pagsasamahan.”

“Hanggang sa muli. Maraming salamat po,” Luis added.

The Batangas Provincial Board of Canvassers has proclaimed incumbent governor Hermilando “Dodo” Mandanas as vice governor on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Luis’ mother, Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos, is poised to return to the Batangas capitol as she was proclaimed winner in the gubernatorial race. His half-brother Ryan Christian Recto, on the other hand, secured the congressional seat in the sixth district of Batangas.
