Businessman Sam Verzosa took to social media to formally concede defeat to Isko Moreno in the 2025 mayoral race in Manila. In a heartfelt letter addressed to his fellow Manileños, Verzosa expressed deep gratitude for the support he received and gracefully accepted the decision of the electorate.

“Ngayong gabi, buong puso kong tinatanggap ang desisyon ng taumbayan,” he wrote, acknowledging the people’s choice while thanking those who stood by him. He described the campaign as a tough battle, especially as a newcomer to Manila’s political arena, but said he drew strength from every handshake, embrace, and pat on the back he received on the streets.

“Hindi po biro ang laban na ating hinarap,” Verzosa said, admitting the uphill nature of the race. He added, “Ang ating kampanya ay hindi lang tungkol sa pagkapanalo, kundi sa pagbibigay ng tinig sa mga matagal nang hindi naririnig,” emphasizing that their movement was rooted in amplifying the voices of the marginalized.

He extended his congratulations to Isko Moreno, saying, “Nais ko pong batiin ang nanalong kandidato. Hiling ko na ang kanyang tagumpay ay tagumpay rin ng buong lungsod.” Verzosa stressed that Manila deserves nothing less than honest, transparent, and compassionate leadership.

While the race has ended, Verzosa vowed that his advocacy for improved healthcare, education, livelihood, and good governance continues. “Magpapatuloy po ako sa pagseserbisyo sa ating bayan sa abot ng aking makakaya,” he said, adding that this experience marks “simula ng isang mas malawak na pakikibaka para sa mas makatarungan at makataong Maynila.”

He closed his message by thanking the people of Manila from the bottom of his heart: “Maraming Salamat, Maynila. Mahal ko po kayo. Mabuhay ang ating lungsod. Mabuhay ang sambayanang Pilipino.”

Previously, Isko shared a photo of him and famous cardiologist and 2022 vice presidential candidate, Doctor Willie Ong, oftentimes referred to as “Doc Willie” or “Doc Willie Ong.” It can be recalled that the famous doctor recently revealed that a tumor called “sarcoma” with a shocking size of 16 by 13 by 12 centimeters was discovered in his stomach, causing him great pain. In Isko’s post, the former mayor and presidential candidate, said Doc Willie is still very weak and still needs to undergo several chemo sessions. Isko also shared in his post the message of Doc Willie to his supporters and those who believe in him.

He also expressed sadness over Doc Willie Ong's current health condition. The cardiologist recently revealed that he is battling abdominal cancer. According to a report by GMA News' Balitambayan, Isko stated he is hoping for Doc Willie's recovery. The former Manila mayor also shared his uplifting message for the doctor.
