Vic aired the viral remark during the campaign kick-off rally of the incumbent mayor’s slate, ‘Giting ng Pasig,’ on Friday, March 28.
During the campaign event, Vic delivered a speech and proudly introduced his son to the attendees.
In his speech, the ‘Eat Bulaga’ host expressed, “Dito na po tayo sa makabagong politika dito sa Pasig. Sa katunayan, marami nang naiinggit sa lungsod ng Pasig.”

He went on to share, “Ang dami kong nakausap, 'Boss, sana sa Pasig ako nakatira. Next year, lilipat na ako ng Pasig.' Dahil maganda ang takbo ng gobyerno ng Pasig.”
Vic then lauded his son's “very, very good governance” and urged the Pasigueños, “Sa darating na Mayo, ipagpatuloy nating ang laban na nasimulan natin dito Pasig.”
The veteran comedian went on to air his witty introduction about his son with Connie Reyes.
“Ito na po, ipapakilala ko na po. Alam niyo naman siguro kung kanino nagmana. Kanino pa? E ‘di sa nanay,” he quipped.
“Ito na po, ang susunod na presidente ng Pilipinas, Mayor Vico Sotto,” said Vic, who seemed to be claiming that the incumbent mayor would become the president in the future.
After the event, Mayor Vico granted a quick interview with press people. During the interview, he was asked about his dad’s now-viral remark.
The city’s local chief executive, who is seeking his third term in the 2025 midterm elections, then urged the public to just ignore his father’s remark.
"Huwag na natin pansinin yon, baka carried away lang," he told the reporters, as per the video posted by ABS-CBN News’ Jervis Manahan on X.
Vic Sotto is an iconic actor, comedian, and television host in the Philippines. He is best known for being the main host of “Eat Bulaga” and for his blockbuster comedy movies. The actor is married to actress Pauleen Luna and they now have two daughters named Tali and Thia.
Previously, Vic Sotto recently summed up his reason for not entering politics. In an interview with The Philippine Star, the veteran comedian explained why he’s leaving politics to his brother Tito Sotto, and his son, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto.
Meanwhile, Ara Mina believes Vic Sotto will not take her political decision personally despite joining the rival camp of his son, Mayor Vico Sotto. She is running for councilor in Pasig’s District 2 under Sarah Discaya. Ara said she only knows Vic from working together in the 2003 film Fantastic Man and has no personal relationship with Vico. She shared that joining Discaya’s slate felt like a sign from God leading her to public service.
