Chiz Escudero has expressed his deep appreciation for the Philippine Embassy in The Hague for its "exemplary consular assistance" to Rodrigo Duterte during his arrival in the Netherlands.

In a statement shared on his Instagram, the Senate President commended the embassy's efforts in ensuring Duterte's well-being during his stay in The Hague after being arrested in Manila.

"I commend the Philippine Embassy in The Hague for their exemplary consular assistance to former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte during his arrival in the Netherlands. Their proactive measures, including the provision of winter clothing, care packages, and logistical support, reflect the highest standards of public service and embody the Filipino values of compassion, solidarity, and service," Chiz stated in his now-viral message on the well-known photo-sharing app.

The former President's arrival in the Netherlands follows the ongoing proceedings at the International Criminal Court (ICC) related to allegations against him over his 'war on drugs.'

Chiz also extended his confidence that the Philippine Embassy would provide the same level of care to Vice President Sara Duterte and any family members who may visit the former President.

"I am confident that the Embassy will extend the same courtesy and level of service to Vice President Sara Duterte, who arrived in The Hague, as well as to other family members who may visit the former President," he remarked in his Instagram post dated March 14, 2024, Friday.

In his now-viral message, the Senate President also highlighted the crucial role of Philippine embassies in protecting the rights and welfare of Filipinos who are staying or living abroad.

"Our embassies play a vital role in protecting the rights and welfare of Filipinos abroad. The dedication exemplified by the Philippine Embassy in The Hague led by Ambassador Jose Eduardo Malaya III deserves our full gratitude and support as they continue to uphold the values and interests of our nation."
