Senator Robin Padilla, in his latest online post, has apologized over the issue regarding marital consent and rape during a Senate hearing.

Previously, during a hearing, Atty. Lorna Kapunan lectured Robin on marital consent and rape and that "no means no" even between spouses.

In his recent statement on his Facebook page, Robin reached out to those he possibly offended.

"Yes means yes yan. Sa mga na-offend po o hindi nagustuhan ang aming pagdinig patungkol sa marital rape. Mga kababayan paumanhin po. Para rin po sa inyong kaalaman ang aking committee po ay public information. Ito pong Commitee na ito sa matagal na panahon ay tulog, hindi po ito nagagamit ng tama kahit nasa constitution ang public information," he said.

According to Robin, the percentage of marital rape in the Philippines is high, meaning the government has to do something about it.

"Ang marital rape po ay may mataas na porsyento iba't-ibang lugar sa Pilipinas. Ibig sabihin meron po pagkukulang ang gobyerno sa pagpapalaganap ng batas at ang pagkukulang na yun ay obligasyon ko na punuan. Ang batas na hindi alam ng taumbayan ay patay na batas. Dahil ang batas ang proteksyon ng tao kung hindi ito napalaganap, ito ay palamuti lang at maaring makabiktima ng ignorante," he said.

He is also the father of actress Kylie Padilla. Robin ran for senator in the 2022 Election. He won the race and was number one in the number of votes received among all candidates.
