Atty. Rowena Guanzon, a former COMELEC Commissioner, took center stage at a political rally held in Sagay City, Negros Occidental recently.

The rally was organized by the Robredo People’s Council (RPC) of Negros Occidental for VP Leni Robredo and her entire political slate.
The former COMELEC Commissioner was among those who spoke before VP Leni got on the stage.

In what appeared to be a swipe at what has recently become her favorite topic, she talked about former Senator Bongbong Marcos and why people shouldn’t vote for him.
She then hinted at the alleged substance abuse of the former governor and legislator.
Near the end of her speech, she then asked people if they were going to vote for someone who’s ugly, to which the people replied negatively.
“Boboto ba kayo sa pangit?” Atty. Guanzon asked, eliciting a “no” from the crowd.
The feisty lady lawyer then led the crowd in chanting a term that has been associated with the Marcoses and Martial Law.
“Never again, never again,” Atty. Rowena Guanzon said.
The former COMELEC Commissioner has been speaking out against former Senator Bongbong Marcos and why he’s not fit for any political position.
Maria Rowena Amelia Villena Guanzon, more popularly known as Atty. Rowena Guanzon, is a former COMELEC Commissioner and Mayor of a city in Negros Occidental. She is a lawyer by profession, who went on to get elected as Mayor of Cadiz City and was eventually appointed at the Philippine Commission on elections. She was born on August 29, 1957 to a prominent family in Negros Occidental. She attended Silliman University during her high school years and took up Economics at the University of the Philippines in Diliman. She, later on, took up and got her Bachelor of Laws degree in the same university.
Previously, the former COMELEC Commissioner also took a swipe at Robin Padilla. The actor has accused Guanzon of allegedly violating "court rules" because she released her separate opinion on the disqualification case of Bongbong Marcos. She tweeted, “Robin Dobby, huwag mo akong tarayan.” The former commissioner then said that the actor and BBM are the same, “mga convict.”
She has also been giving her advice to the Philippine electorate as regards choosing whom to vote for in the coming elections in May. Atty. Guanzon said that voters should choose those who have a good track record in public service. She also advised to not vote for those who are popular though have no inkling about public service.
