A student athlete from Koronadal was bitten by a cobra after the snake reportedly entered the athlete’s bag while staying in quarters in President Quirino, Sultan Kudarat. The incident occurred during the SOCCSKSARGEN Regional Athletic Association Meet, raising concerns about safety in temporary accommodations for participants.

According to a companion of the athlete, the incident happened inside a school where the team was temporarily housed. The athlete was about to retrieve something from the bag when the snake struck. The unexpected encounter caused alarm among teammates and staff.

Teachers immediately rushed the athlete to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Initial examination showed that the bite was shallow and that the cobra had not released venom.
