According to Labor Attaché Don Pancog, the teacher appeared to be in a severe state of physical and emotional exhaustion at the time of her arrest.

Initial reports suggest that the woman may have been overwhelmed by a sudden medical emergency while walking in extreme heat, forcing her to seek refuge in the mall.

Embassy officials who conducted a virtual visit described the teacher as being "full of remorse" and deeply traumatized.

She was full of remorse. Her recollection of the event was very hazy. But this is not her first child kasi," Pancog shared, noting that the woman was in a highly distressed state.

It was revealed that the teacher, originally from Mindanao, arrived in Thailand in October 2025 to pursue a teaching career.

She reportedly only became aware of her delicate condition a month after her arrival.

The investigation is currently focused on establishing the exact circumstances surrounding the event.

Thai police are conducting forensic tests and looking into potential charges related to the incident. Meanwhile, Philippine Chargé d’Affaires Charmaine Guevara emphasized that the teacher is in dire need of psychosocial intervention.

"And more so now na mayroon din siyang psychosocial na mga pangangailangan din po," Guevara stated.

The Philippine Embassy in Bangkok has already appointed legal counsel to represent the Filipino national and is coordinating with Thai authorities to provide her with necessary medical care.

A personal visit is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, April 1, to further assess her well-being.

In the wake of the news, Philippine officials have issued a plea for compassion. They reminded the public that the full story has yet to be told and urged netizens to avoid harsh commentary.
