A young boy narrowly escaped a potentially dangerous situation after being approached and taken by an unidentified man, according to barangay officials, ABS-CBN reported.

CCTV footage showed the suspect, dressed in white, standing by the roadside while the child walked ahead.
Moments later, the man followed the boy to a nearby eatery before they both left the area together. Investigators later revealed that the child had only been sent out to buy food when the incident occurred.
Barangay Kagawad Edwin Zambrona said the suspect allegedly tried to gain the child’s trust through promises.

“May binulong sa kaniya... ang sinabi nga, may ibibigay daw ‘yung nanay para sa kaniya at bibigyan siya ng pera, at the same time bibigyan siya ng pagkain. Parang mga pinangako,” Zambrona explained.
Additional CCTV clips showed the man walking beside the child while pushing a bicycle. When they reached Barangay 899, the suspect reportedly made the child ride with him.
Zambrona expressed concern over the method used.
“Parang hipnotismo. I don’t know kung anong klaseng ginawa doon sa bata. Hindi natin alam kung se*xual offender ba ‘yung tao na ‘yun o ano pa man,” he added.
The situation took a turn when a family acquaintance spotted the child riding with the suspect on a jeep.
The witness noticed the man sniffing the child’s hair, prompting him to immediately intervene. The child was safely taken off the bicycle after denying that he knew the man, while the suspect quickly fled.
The boy later recounted the encounter to his father.
“Sabi niya sa akin, kinalabit siya. Sabi bibigyan daw siya ng bag, padala ng nanay niya, tapos papakainin daw po siya ng fast food... hiwalay na po kasi kami ng nanay niya kaya naniwala siya. Nanggigigil po talaga ako sa suspek na ‘yun,” the father shared.
Authorities continue their investigation as they work to identify and apprehend the suspect.
In a related development, the Bacoor Component City Police have identified the man seen in a viral video attempting to open a vehicle as Joel Viola Matados. Authorities said Matados is from General Trias, Cavite, and may be dealing with a medical condition. His family explained he had left their home earlier that day and appeared disoriented during the incident. Motorist Lorie Sy recounted the tense moment: “I stayed locked inside my car while he repeatedly pulled on my door handle in the middle of traffic,” she said. Police are urging the public to provide any information that could help locate Matados so he can receive proper medical attention. Officials are also coordinating with local health authorities to ensure he gets the necessary care once found.
