In a chilling revelation following a hot-pursuit operation, the primary suspect in the recent deadly shooting at a residential condominium complex in Marcelo Green has admitted to the crime, pointing to a year-long grudge as his primary motivation.

The 59-year-old gunman, who was captured by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) late Friday night, claimed that his actions were the result of "extreme provocation."

During his detention, the suspect detailed how he had grown increasingly agitated by what he described as excessive noise and deliberate taunting from his neighbors.

"Nag-iingay ho, tapos nag-iinuman sila roon eh. Nagtatawanan tapos kung anu-ano ang sinasabi," the suspect stated, alleging that the victims had made derogatory remarks about his family.

According to police reports, the violence began when the gunman descended from his unit to a basketball court where his primary target, identified as Edwin, was watching a game.

Close-circuit television (CCTV) footage captured the suspect entering the area and firing at the 52-year-old victim at close range before turning the weapon on others in the vicinity.

The ensuing chaos left two people dead and several others injured, including a victim named RJ and another resident, Kevin, who was struck while attempting to flee for his life.

The investigation has taken a complicated turn as authorities look into the suspect’s background.

It was revealed that the gunman was already a convicted criminal, having been found guilty of h0micide in 2012.

Furthermore, the Taguig City Police had attempted to serve a sentencing warrant against him as recently as March 2024, but he had successfully evaded arrest until this latest incident.

Questions are now being raised regarding how a convicted individual managed to maintain possession of high-caliber firearms.

During the arrest, police confiscated two 9mm pistols and several magazines. The NCRPO is currently investigating the potential liability of the condominium’s management and security personnel, while also looking into the breakdown in the firearm licensing process that allowed the suspect to stay armed despite his legal history.

The suspect underwent inquest proceedings on Saturday, facing two counts of murder and multiple counts of frustrated murder.

As the community reels from the tragedy, the shooter expressed a late sense of remorse, claiming he never intended for things to go that far but was simply "pushed to the limit."

In other news, a woman in the late stages of pregnancy lost her life in Badoc after an intruder allegedly broke into her residence and committed a fatal stabbing. Local reports indicate the victim was sleeping alongside her young child when the violent encounter took place within their home. Law enforcement officials successfully located and seized the weapon used in the assault at the scene of the crime. The individual in custody reportedly told investigators that his state of extreme inebriation prevented him from understanding the gravity of his deeds.

Still in other news, a business establishment in Lucena City became the site of a deadly shooting on Thursday after a verbal disagreement rapidly turned physical. The deceased, identified as Jayson, had originally visited the shop to settle a personal matter involving borrowed property before the altercation began. A search operation is currently active for a 30-year-old man who was seen escaping toward a nearby community immediately after the gunfire. Police are exploring the possibility that the conflict was sparked by emotional distress stemming from a recently dissolved romantic partnership.
