The agency’s move underscores a tightening grip on road safety violations specifically linked to "distracted driving" among content creators.
LTO Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II confirmed on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, that a Show Cause Order (SCO) has been issued to both the registered owner and the driver of a white sedan.
The investigation was triggered by a video posted within an online community, which allegedly depicts a female driver handling a recording device while navigating through traffic.

The agency has directed the individuals involved to appear before the Intelligence and Investigation Division to provide a formal, sworn explanation regarding the incident.
Failure to comply with the directive or provide a satisfactory defense could result in administrative penalties, including the permanent revocation of driving privileges.
According to the LTO, the vlogger faces several potential charges, most notably a violation of the Anti-Distracted Driving Act. Additionally, the agency is looking into allegations of reckless driving and the possibility that the driver is an "improper person" to operate a motor vehicle due to the safety risks posed to the public.
As a preliminary measure, the driver’s license of the person identified in the video will be placed under a 90-day preventive suspension while the probe remains active.
Furthermore, the vehicle involved has been placed on "alarm status," effectively preventing any transactions related to its registration until the case is resolved.

"We will not tolerate this kind of behavior on our roads. Safety should never be sacrificed for social media engagement or views," the LTO stated in a follow-up advisory.
This case serves as a stern reminder to the growing community of vloggers that traffic laws apply equally to everyone, regardless of their online following.
The agency continues to monitor social media platforms for similar violations, emphasizing that digital evidence provided by the public plays a crucial role in modern road law enforcement.

Still in other news, three suspects have been officially charged with two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of Police Senior Master Sergeant Diane Marie Mollenido and her 8-year-old son. After establishing prima facie evidence, prosecutors have recommended that the accused individuals be held without the possibility of bail. Charges against the victim’s former husband were dropped after further investigation led to his removal from the list of respondents in the case. The investigation continues as authorities look for remaining accomplices after the victims' remains were recovered in separate locations in Bulacan and Tarlac.
