A five-year-old kindergarten student was killed after being struck by a stray bullet inside a classroom in Datu Piang, Maguindanao del Sur, authorities confirmed.

Police said the incident occurred shortly after 8 a.m. on Wednesday while the child was attending class at Damabalas Elementary School.
According to initial findings, the victim suddenly collapsed inside the classroom, prompting the class adviser to check on the child and later discover that a bullet wound had caused the fall.
Investigators noted that the shooting coincided with ongoing gunfire between armed groups in a nearby barangay of Olandang in the municipality of Nabalawag, an এলাকa under the Special Geographic Area of the Bangsamoro Region.

Authorities believe the bullet that hit the child may have come from that exchange of fire, though verification remains part of the continuing probe.
