“The male individual was unfortunately pronounced dead on-site,” says LRMC.
Despite the fatal incident, LRMC said train operations along the line continued without disruption while the company coordinated closely with investigators. Authorities are now working to determine the circumstances surrounding the fall.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said the probe remains ongoing, including efforts to establish whether the student fell accidentally, jumped, or may have been pushed.
“We will look for witnesses and will check their testimonies,” says QCPD spokesperson Maj. Jennifer Gannaban in Filipino.
Police added that the exact cause of death has yet to be confirmed, as investigators are still verifying information suggesting the victim may have been struck by a passing vehicle after falling onto EDSA below the station.
Further updates are expected as authorities gather additional evidence and testimonies related to the incident.
Earlier reports from KAMI stated Cebu-based vlogger Jimbo Yurongo, known online as MarinongDj, was attacked while posing for photos with supporters during the Barangay Iponan fiesta. The assailant, who was believed to be intoxicated, allegedly struck Yurongo on the neck, leading stage staff and nearby attendees to step in and stop the disturbance. Witnesses said the commotion was brief before calm was restored. Both Yurongo and the suspect were taken to the hospital, and the latter was later held at the Maharlika Detention Cell. Yurongo has since been reported in stable condition and shared on social media that he was using a wheelchair during recovery. The incident also sparked concerns about event security, prompting organizers to reassess their safety protocols.
In a separate incident in Antipolo, Rizal, a family was robbed before dawn while they were asleep, according to a report by GMA News. CCTV footage captured a man entering their bedroom quietly and taking more than P20,000 in cash along with personal belongings such as mobile phones, wallets, and bags. The video showed the suspect picking up a sling bag and another bag before leaving without being noticed. Some of the stolen bags were later found nearby, but the cash had already been taken. Victim Mary Rose Martinez Bustamante said the family only discovered the robbery the following morning. Authorities later identified the suspect as a resident of Barangay Mambugan who allegedly has previous cases involving theft and carnapping, and efforts to locate him remain ongoing.
