Police reported that the victim was crossing a road in Barangay Ventinilla when a motorcycle hit him, causing both the rider and the pedestrian to fall. Moments later, a fast-moving car arrived and ran over the victim before escaping.
“Nang bumulagta si victim, tamang-tama naman na may mabilis na sasakyan. Mga ilang segundo, na-run over o nagulungan itong bumulagta na pedestrian,” says Sta. Barbara police chief Lt. Col. Michael Datuin.
Witnesses tried to chase the fleeing vehicle, but it managed to get away. The victim was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The victim’s father expressed deep sorrow over the incident.
“Maski sinong ama, pag nakita nila yung anak nila na ganun, maiiyak ka. Masakit talaga. Grabe, pinipigilan ko sarili ko,” says the father.
According to police, the victim’s relatives agreed to settle matters with the motorcycle rider involved in the initial collision.
“They come to an agreement na i-settle na lang nila. Pero nonetheless, ongoing yung investigation natin at yun nga, isa sa mga goal natin is to identify yung driver ng pulang kotse,” says Datuin.
Through CCTV backtracking, investigators traced the suspected car’s route up to Barangay Bued in Calasiao town. Authorities are now preparing the appropriate charges against the fleeing driver as the investigation continues.
A 15-year-old Grade 10 student was killed after being stabbed by a 16-year-old fellow student in Barangay 649, Baseco Compound, Manila, on February 9. CCTV footage reportedly captured the suspect waiting outside the school moments before a confrontation broke out, allegedly tied to a conflict involving the victim’s girlfriend. During the encounter, the suspect is said to have drawn a knife, leading to injuries that caused the victim to collapse and later die at the hospital due to multiple stab wounds. Police later recovered the bladed weapon near the suspect’s residence. The minor is currently under the custody of the Manila Police District as the investigation continues, while barangay officials pledged to intensify patrols in response to rising youth-related incidents in the community.
In a separate incident, a man was shot and robbed close to midnight in General Trias, Cavite, after stopping to purchase coffee. Surveillance footage showed three suspects arriving on a motorcycle, initially making the victim think the approach was a prank. The assailants seized his wallet, mobile phone, identification cards, and motorcycle before one of them shot him in the hip. He subsequently underwent surgery for serious pelvic injuries and may require a hip replacement. Authorities are examining CCTV images of one suspect wearing a white shirt and helmet, while the two others were in jackets, as efforts continue to determine their identities and whereabouts.
