During the incident, Villar was heard shouting, “Ide-demanda ko kayo!” as she approached the marshals. When the guards calmly replied that they were just managing the road, she fired back, “Anong kalsada? Harap ng bahay ko ’yan lahat. Bakit ’yung iba hindi mo nilalagyan?” She even pointed out a specific guard, saying, “Ikaw lang ang tanga. Ako hindi tanga!”

Responding to the backlash, Villar’s camp released a statement titled “Setting the Record Straight.” They explained that the tension arose because the homeowners' association (HOA) installed traffic markers directly in front of her home without any consultation. Her office argued that this move was not only unauthorized but was ordered by a board that is no longer legally recognized. “Instead of a constructive dialogue, some individuals decided to trespass on F/Sen. Villar’s property, provoked and escalated the situation, took videos, and circulated these edited and malicious videos on various digital platforms,” the statement read.

Villar’s office further pointed out that the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the Court of Appeals had previously declared the involved HOA board illegal. As such, they claim the group had no authority to manage traffic or install signs in the area. “We emphasize that residents have the right to be informed and consulted on matters that directly affect access, traffic flow, safety, and daily mobility within the community,” they added, calling for more transparency and respect for the law.
