Reflecting on his personal experiences, Escudero recalled the mentorship he received from de Venecia early in his political career.
“I recall my early years as a neophyte in the House of Representatives, when Speaker de Venecia was fatherly to me. As he paid tribute, Escudero extended his condolences to de Venecia’s family.
“As we pay tribute to him now, I extend my deepest condolences to his beloved wife, Rep. Gina de Venecia, and to their family. We remember not only the offices he held but the ideals he embodied.”
He concluded his message by highlighting the enduring lessons from de Venecia’s life and service.
