According to a report by James Agustin on "Unang Balita," rescuers arrived at the scene around 1 a.m. and found the driver and his helper sitting but wounded following the collision.
Initial findings showed that the dump truck plowed into four concrete barriers and hit a power post before finally stopping after getting wedged between a parked piece of heavy equipment and the wall of the ongoing MRT-7 construction.
Despite the violent impact, a male security guard assigned to watch over the heavy equipment was unharmed.

He recounted how close he was to danger at the time of the crash.
“Nakatayo ako po diyan kanina tapos bigla na lang pumasok,” says the witness who was guarding the heavy equipment.
“Pumunta ako du’n sa likod, pinulot ko 'yung mga bato. Pasalamat po ako, hindi po ako nabangga,” he adds.
The force of the collision shattered the truck’s windshield, sending glass flying, and knocked down several concrete barriers.
The power post struck by the truck also tilted slightly, raising safety concerns in the area.
The truck helper was reportedly thrown from his seat, suffering injuries to his head and legs, while the driver sustained wounds on his arms. Both were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Authorities said the dump truck had come from Pampanga and was on its way to Rizal to collect gravel. Based on the driver’s statement to MMDA personnel, he allegedly dozed off while driving.
Meralco crews arrived before 5 a.m. to install support on the damaged power post. The Quezon City Police District Traffic Sector 5 is continuing its investigation into the incident.
In other developments, a video showing a violent altercation between two teenagers at a private school in Tagkawayan spread online after a male student was seen hitting his female classmate on Wednesday. The confrontation, reportedly triggered by accusations involving harmful rumors, ended only after a male teacher intervened to stop the fight. Tagkawayan police, together with the Women and Children Protection Desk, have launched an investigation into the incident to assess possible violations and ensure student safety. School administrators said the male student involved is now under disciplinary review and could face expulsion due to the seriousness of the incident.
Meanwhile, a newborn baby girl was rescued after being abandoned for several hours inside a reusable grocery bag along a sidewalk in Barangay Kamputhaw. The infant was discovered near a utility pole and was immediately rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center, where doctors said she is in stable condition and under close observation. Authorities later learned that the baby’s biological mother was confined at the same hospital at the time the child was found. Police are now looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident to determine whether the abandonment was intentional, a finding that could result in the filing of criminal charges.
