Authorities discovered the infant’s remains inside the suspect’s residence in Barangay Cugman after the child’s mother raised the alarm regarding her disappearance.

The Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) suggests that the primary motive behind the suspect’s actions was a desperate fear of his parents' reaction.

Police confirmed that the suspect's parents were completely unaware of the infant's existence.

The young father had allegedly kept the child a secret to protect his standing as a student, leading to the series of events that ultimately claimed the newborn's life.

The ordeal began when the suspect traveled to Balingasag, Misamis Oriental, to visit the child’s mother.

He reportedly convinced her to let him take the one-month-old girl, claiming he wanted to finally introduce the baby to his parents in the city.

However, the mother became deeply concerned when the suspect suddenly cut off all communication and could no longer be reached via phone or social media.

Sensing something was wrong, she sought immediate assistance from local law enforcement, who tracked the suspect to his boarding house.

Upon arriving at the scene on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, officers found the suspect but were met with a somber discovery.

COCPO Spokesperson Emilita Simon reported that the infant was found inside a blue bag along with several diapers.
