The victim was identified as Police Staff Sergeant Renato Casauay Jr., who was last seen alive on January 24, according to a report aired on GMA Regional TV’s "GTV News Balitanghali."

A week after his disappearance, residents alerted authorities to a suspicious site in Barangay Mojon, where police later uncovered the remains.

Investigators said the victim’s body was found inside a cement-lined hole, along with his motorcycle helmet and top box, indicating an attempt to conceal both the crime and possible evidence.

Initial findings suggest that Casauay was shot before being buried.

Police revealed that the motive behind the killing may have been a personal dispute. According to investigators, the suspect allegedly became enraged after taking offense at a joke made by the victim, which escalated into a fatal confrontation.

The primary suspect remains at large. However, authorities confirmed that two individuals whom the suspect reportedly spoke to after the shooting are now in police custody.

These individuals allegedly told investigators that the suspect went to them and confessed to killing the police officer. One of those reportedly approached by the suspect is also a member of the police force.

Law enforcement agencies have launched a manhunt not only for the main suspect but also for at least eight other individuals believed to have been involved in the crime.

Authorities said coordination efforts are ongoing to track down all those implicated and to build airtight cases against them.

The investigation continues as police work to determine each suspect’s role and ensure justice for the slain officer.

In an earlier report covered by KAMI, a family of three was fatally shot inside their own store in Barangay Mallorca, San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija. Security camera footage captured three armed men entering the establishment, shutting the roll-up door, and opening fire on the victims. Before fleeing, one of the assailants was seen taking a bag and a mobile phone from the scene. In a separate report by Gary De Leon aired on TV5’s Frontline Pilipinas, police disclosed that the family had allegedly been receiving threats after lending ₱1 million to a fellow barangay resident, who was said to have used the money to fund a business.

Meanwhile, another incident that gained widespread attention involved a 51-year-old public school teacher in Las Piñas City who was repeatedly stabbed by her husband. A report by EJ Gomez on Unang Balita identified the suspect as the victim’s 38-year-old spouse, who allegedly attacked her inside the school’s faculty room. Authorities said the school had a security guard on duty at the time, but the suspect was able to enter and exit freely since he was already familiar to staff. Investigators added that the suspect claimed he went to the school to speak with his wife and attempt to fix their marital issues, but the conversation reportedly turned into a heated confrontation that ended in a violent assault.
