The suspect, identified by local authorities only as alias "Tol," reportedly resisted arrest and seized a law enforcement vehicle before crashing through traffic on the way to the Manila-Cavite Expressway (Cavitex).

The incident began around 12:30 p.m. in Barangay Kaingin, Bacoor City, where anti-illegal drug operatives from the Bacoor Component City Police Station launched a buy-bust operation.

In a desperate bid to evade capture, the 36-year-old suspect reportedly overpowered operatives and sped away using an unmarked police vehicle assigned to the intelligence unit.

The theft triggered an immediate "hot pursuit" as tactical operations centers alerted all mobile patrollers along Tirona Highway.

During the flight toward Kawit, the suspect drove recklessly, striking several vehicles in his path.

Reports from the Kawit Municipal Police Station confirmed that the suspect rammed two motorcycles, a tricycle, and an SUV, resulting in injuries to at least three civilians who were subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The chase reached its breaking point at the Marulas Bridge in Kawit. Despite police attempts to block his path, the suspect allegedly used the stolen vehicle to ram a police mobile unit and opened fire on pursuing officers.

The pursuit concluded when officers were forced to shoot out the tires of the stolen vehicle, causing the suspect to lose control and crash into a road barrier near the Marulas Exit of Cavitex.

Even after being cornered, authorities stated that the suspect refused to surrender and continued to fire from inside the car.

"Ayaw niya pong buksan 'yung pintuan eh, so binasag na po 'yung salamin sa likod. While ginagawa 'yun bumaril na po," Desamito explained. "No choice na po 'yung tropa kundi makipagsabayan na rin po."

The suspect sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene. The Cavite Provincial Forensic Unit has since processed the site, recovering a firearm used by the suspect.

While the highway was briefly closed for the investigation, it was reopened to motorists later that evening.

Surveillance footage documented the dramatic street chase, showing the suspects attempting to flee the scene aboard a motorized sidecar, commonly known as a kolong-kolong. Law enforcement successfully apprehended three male suspects, who are allegedly part of a local "Salisi Gang" known for snatching valuables from unattended vehicles. While one individual confessed to the theft with the intent of reselling the stolen helmets for quick cash, his companions maintained their innocence during police questioning.
