Authorities said the chase began after the rider discovered that his two helmets had gone missing while he was buying food at a fast food restaurant.

Sarmiento also explained how police became involved in the pursuit.

He said, "Itong kapatid ng biktima ay humingi ng tulong sa ating mobile na nagpa-patrolya sa area."
He added, "Ngayon, kanilang pinuntahan at biglang humarurot 'yung kulong-kulong at nagkaroon ng konting habulan."

The rider eventually caught up with the suspects, leading to the arrest of three men. Police said the suspects were not residents of the area and were allegedly members of a Salisi Gang.

Sarmiento said, "Ito nga'y gawain nila, 'yung pananalisi at pagnanakaw ng helmet sa kanilang biktima."
