In Zamboanga City, a 10-foot python was discovered inside a parked vehicle in Barangay Mampang.

According to a report aired on “Unang Balita” on Wednesday, a video released by the Bureau of Fire Protection Zamboanga City Fire District initially showed people gathered around a car in the parking area of a church.

At first glance, it appeared that the group was simply working on the vehicle. Moments later, the python emerged, having been spotted inside the car’s engine compartment.

Fire personnel worked together to safely capture the snake. The python was successfully secured and later turned over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for proper handling.

Meanwhile, in Casiguran, Aurora, a Northern Luzon giant cloud rat, locally known as Bu-ot, was safely returned to its natural habitat.

The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office said the animal was found by a family and immediately turned over to authorities.

After undergoing examination to ensure it was healthy and unharmed, the rare rodent was released back into the forest. The species is considered one of the largest rats found in the country.

In Libon, Albay, residents were surprised after a dead oarfish measuring around five feet long washed ashore in Barangay Pantao.

Experts explained that oarfish typically dwell in deep waters and are rarely seen near shallow areas.

The species is sometimes referred to as a “doomsday fish” due to beliefs linking its appearance to earthquakes.

Separately, farmers in Bongabon, Nueva Ecija were forced to harvest their onion crops earlier than planned after pests and birds damaged their fields in Barangay Tugatog.

To prevent further losses, the farmers opted to sell the onions at local markets despite the premature harvest.

In other developments, a violent incident involving two teenagers at a private school in Tagkawayan drew widespread attention after a video showed a male student hitting a female classmate on Wednesday. The altercation was reportedly triggered by a conflict linked to circulating rumors. The situation was only brought under control when a male teacher intervened and separated the students. Following the incident, the Tagkawayan Police, together with the Women and Children Protection Desk, launched an investigation to examine the breach of safety protocols within the campus. Authorities confirmed that the student involved is now under review, while school administrators said the seriousness of the incident could result in permanent expulsion.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a newborn baby girl was saved after being abandoned for several hours inside a reusable shopping bag along a sidewalk in Barangay Kamputhaw. The infant was discovered near a utility post and was immediately rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center, where she remains in stable condition under medical observation. Investigators later uncovered that the child’s biological mother was also confined at the same hospital. Authorities are now assessing the circumstances surrounding the case to determine whether the abandonment was intentional, a finding that may lead to the filing of criminal charges.
