The infant was found at the foot of an electric post along Gotianuy Street in Barangay Kamputhaw.
Police said the discovery was made after a caretaker of a nearby establishment noticed unusual activity when an ambulance arrived in the area earlier that morning.
According to authorities, ambulance passengers approached the caretaker and asked if she had seen an eco bag containing the placenta of a newborn child. A search was immediately conducted nearby, leading to the discovery of an eco bag.

When a police officer checked its contents, a newborn baby girl was found inside.
The baby was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center, where doctors confirmed that she was still breathing and immediately provided medical care.
Further investigation revealed that the baby’s mother, a saleslady from Lapu-Lapu City, was also confined at the same hospital. A 25-year-old female friend of the mother told police that the woman had been staying at her boarding house.
The friend said she was awakened around 3 a.m. after the mother complained of heavy bleeding.
Believing that the woman had suffered a miscarriage, the friend did not initially think she had given birth, as the mother believed she was only five months pregnant.
While waiting for an ambulance, the mother was reportedly seen leaving the boarding house carrying an eco bag. The friend said she did not know what was inside it at the time.
