A woman was injured after she was shot by her live-in partner during an argument early Wednesday morning in Purok Masinadyahon, Barangay 12, Bacolod City.

Initial information from the Bombo News Team identified the victim as Danica Labaja.

Authorities named the suspect as Mark Joseph Ilalim, who was reportedly living with the victim at the time of the incident.

The two were said to be renting in the area and had been in a relationship for only about a month.

According to neighbors, the couple was known to frequently argue, raising concerns among residents even before the shooting occurred.

On the morning of the incident, the pair were reportedly engaged in another heated dispute when a man allegedly attempted to step in and offer advice in hopes of calming the situation.

Police said the suspect, who was reportedly enraged at the time, fired his gun at the man who tried to intervene.

However, the bullet instead struck Labaja, hitting her on the right shoulder.

The victim was immediately rushed to the hospital, where she was scheduled to undergo surgery due to the severity of her injury.

Following the shooting, the suspect voluntarily surrendered at Bacolod Police Station 1. Authorities took him into custody while securing the firearm allegedly used in the incident.

Police officers continue to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Law enforcers said the information gathered so far remains subject to verification as they interview witnesses and review evidence.

The incident has once again raised concerns among residents about domestic disputes escalating into violence, as authorities work to ensure accountability and public safety in the community.

In an earlier local report by KAMI, a family of three was mercilessly shot and killed inside their store in Barangay Mallorca, San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija. CCTV footage showed three men entering the shop, closing the roll-up door, and then shooting the entire family to death. Before fleeing, one of the suspects also took a bag and a cellphone belonging to the victims. According to a report by Gary De Leon of TV5 Frontline Pilipinas, the family started receiving threats after they lent P1 million to a resident of their barangay, who allegedly used the money for a business.
