A 22-year-old delivery rider narrowly escaped death after a dramatic rescue operation in Valenzuela City. According to police reports, the young man went to Polo Bridge in M.H. Del Pilar, Barangay Poblacion, at around 8:30 in the morning. Overwhelmed by personal problems, he jumped into the deep river in an attempt to end his life.

Witnesses who saw the man about to jump quickly alerted P/Capt. Doddie Aguirre, the chief of Polo Police Sub-Station 5. Responding immediately to the scene, P/SSg. Reileto Jasa and Pat. Keanu Colis found the young man struggling near the edge of the water. With the help of traffic enforcers, the officers worked together to pull him out of the water and bring him to safety.

Valenzuela Police Chief P/Col. Joseph Talento shared a surprising detail about the incident. He noted that the young man reportedly had a change of heart the moment his body hit the cold water. The investigation revealed that the rider’s actions stemmed from a deep sense of hurt following an argument with his mother.
