Officer Police Captain Vladimir Lalas noted that a significant factor in the fatality was likely the absence of protective equipment.

"Batay sa aming mga unang resulta sa imbestigasyon, wala sa mga indibidwal na kasangkot sa aksidente ang nakasuot ng helmet nang sila’y magbanggaan," Lalas stated.

This detail highlights a recurring problem in rural road safety where short trips often lead to a disregard for mandatory safety gear.

"Siguro po hindi nila nakalkula yung daan nila kaya nagka-head on collision sila sa gitna ng kalsada," Lalas added.
