Initial police investigation revealed that the 7-year-old victim was with his mother and sibling at the time of the explosion.
The family was reportedly on their way to the Christmas party when they passed by the house and the blast suddenly occurred.
The child died from injuries sustained in the explosion, while his mother and sibling were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
Another fatality was a 21-year-old student who was allegedly passing through the area at the time.
Reports said the young man was on his way to get a haircut when he was caught in the explosion. He was pronounced dead due to the impact of the blast.
Residents in the area shared differing accounts about what may have caused the explosion.
Some claimed it was triggered by liquefied petroleum gas, while others suspected that fireworks stored inside the house were responsible.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact cause and are treating both possibilities as part of the ongoing investigation.
Four individuals who were injured remain under medical observation. Meanwhile, authorities continue efforts to locate the owner of the house and determine whether it was being used as an illegal fireworks facility.
Officials urged the public to report suspicious activities as investigations continue.
In a previous KAMI report, the Bureau of Customs was said to have intensified its review of the importation of about 40 luxury vehicles allegedly linked to Sarah Discaya’s family. The investigation reportedly followed an interview that highlighted the family’s collection of high-end cars, which went viral online. Authorities noted that the BOC is scrutinizing import documents, shipping papers, and the names of declared consignees to determine if any customs rules were breached. Public attention on the matter has grown, as Discaya has also been connected to contractors involved in flood control projects currently under Senate review. Around the same period, reports of the passing of former Department of Public Works and Highways undersecretary Catalina Cabral added to the string of developments being closely monitored by the public.
