Teenage mom reports woman pretending to be vlogger who allegedly took her baby

A 17-year-old mother sought help from police after a woman allegedly took her seven-month-old baby in Surigao City on Wednesday.

Investigation showed that suspect convinced the young mother to come with her by claiming she was a vlogger who wanted to help people with free shopping at a mall.

According to a report by GMA Regional TV, police found that mother met the 59-year-old suspect inside a mall while she was having lunch with her baby.

Suspect introduced herself as a vlogger looking for people to treat during shopping.

Victim told police that suspect said she was fourth person chosen to receive help. While walking around mall, suspect offered to carry baby so mother could shop more easily.

Young mother agreed to offer. Moments later, suspect suddenly disappeared while holding infant.

Mother immediately asked for help from mall security guards and police officers stationed outside. Authorities quickly reviewed CCTV footage inside mall to track suspect and check possible escape routes.

Acting on gathered information, authorities were able to stop suspect at Macagal Port. Police said woman was about to travel to Siargao Islands.

Investigation showed that suspect is a resident of Tagana-an in Surigao del Norte. Baby was safely recovered from her custody.

Infant was brought to Women and Children Protection Desk for proper assistance. Child was later returned to her mother.

Authorities reminded parents to stay alert, especially in public places. Police continue to investigate case to determine possible charges against suspect.
