Popular radio and TV personality DJ Chacha has sparked a conversation on social media about the purported extended breaks and vacations taken by lawmakers, suggesting that shorter breaks could improve the legislative process and ensure responsible budgeting.

In a recent Instagram post, written in white text against a plain background, she expressed concern that long breaks may cause lawmakers to rush critical budget decisions.

“Bawasan sana ang dami at haba ng break ng mga mambabatas para hindi sila nagmamadali sa pagpasa ng budget,” she wrote.

“Taun-taon na lang, parang utang na loob pa ng publiko na nagpuyat sila at inabot ng holiday ang bicam,” she continued, pointing out the recurring expectation that the public should feel grateful for lawmakers’ extended working hours, even during holidays.

“Mga boss amo, bawasan ninyo ang break ninyo para mas mabusisi at maayos ang paghimay sa pambansang budget,” DJ Chacha likewise penned, urging lawmakers to shorten their breaks to allow for a more thorough and careful review of the national budget.

She also added in her caption: “What if? Para hindi rin kami naiiinggit sa haba ng bakasyon niyo.”
