The local government of Valenzuela City has formed a special task force to investigate the disturbing case of a dog found injured with its tongue severed, sparking concern and outrage online.

According to a report aired on GMA News 24 Oras on Friday, the task force is composed of personnel from the Valenzuela City Police and the City Veterinary Office.
The group was organized to determine what really happened to the dog named Kobe, who was discovered bleeding and badly injured by his owners.

CCTV footage reviewed by authorities captured the sound of a dog howling in apparent pain during the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The video also showed a light believed to have come from a passing motorcycle, along with the presence of other dogs in the area at the time of the incident.
Kobe’s owners, led by Rodlee Rivera-Zulueta, later found their pet wounded with its tongue already cut off.
The severed tongue was reportedly discovered not far from where the dog was located. Initial findings revealed that Kobe had managed to break free from where he was tied and had exited their compound before the incident occurred.
The injured dog was immediately brought to a veterinary clinic, where doctors confirmed that Kobe was suffering and that the damaged tongue could no longer be reattached.
As the investigation progressed, Valenzuela police disclosed that a witness has come forward to share information regarding the case.
The witness claimed that Kobe may have sustained his injuries after getting into a fight with another dog on the street, suggesting that the wound may not have been caused by human cruelty.
Authorities emphasized that they are still carefully validating all gathered evidence, including CCTV footage and witness statements, before drawing any conclusions. The task force assured the public that the investigation remains ongoing as they work to uncover the truth behind the incident.
