She was on her way to her job at a printing shop when she suddenly felt what seemed like a stone hitting her back.

Jacobo said she initially thought it was nothing serious, but numbness followed a few minutes later.

“Pero mga three minutes po namanhid po siya, kaya kinuha ko ‘yung bimpo ko sa bag, pinunas ko po sa likod then nagulat po ako kasi may dugo,” says Jacobo.

She added that she even suspected she had been stabbed with an ice pick.

The jeepney driver quickly brought her to a nearby police outpost before she was rushed to the hospital.

There, doctors discovered that it was not a stone or a stab wound but a pellet-shaped bullet that struck her.

Police Colonel Feloteo Gonzalgo, the provincial director of the Rizal Police Provincial Office, explained that recovering the bullet is crucial for identifying the suspect.

“Medyo maselan po ito kasi hindi natin matutukoy kung sino ang nag-discharge ng firearm unless makuha rin natin ‘yung slug ng bullet at pa-ballistic natin,” says Gonzalgo.

Doctors have yet to remove the bullet because of its delicate placement. Jacobo was given anti-tetanus m&dication while awaiting the right time for surgery.

“Ang sabi po sa akin ng surgeon hangga’t hindi pa umaangat ‘yung bala, hindi siya ooperahan,” says the victim.

The incident has affected her mobility, work, and ability to care for her two children.

Despite her ordeal, she offered forgiveness to the shooter.

“Sa gumawa nito sa akin, ngayon pa lang napapatawad na kita,” says Jacobo.

She appealed for assistance with her medical needs but warned she may pursue legal action if the responsible person does not come forward.

In Davao City, a 74-year-old man was killed in an incident involving his own grandson, a case that has left the community stunned. Relatives shared that the 27-year-old suspect had previously displayed alarming behavior and had been admitted to a mental health facility several times. The family has decided not to pursue criminal charges and is instead seeking to have him placed under psychiatric care. Neighbors say the tragedy has deeply shaken those who knew the victim.

In a separate case, an 18-year-old student passed away after an unauthorized CCTV video—allegedly showing her taking ice cream without paying—spread among local youths. According to her family, the circulation of the video caused overwhelming fear, humiliation, and anxiety. Authorities have since filed complaints against both the store owner and the study room supervisor for possible violations of privacy laws. The two incidents have intensified national conversations about digital cruelty and the responsibility people hold when sharing sensitive material, especially involving minors. Experts emphasize the serious impact online actions can have on real lives, while advocates continue to call for stronger mental health support and greater awareness to help prevent similar tragedies in the future.
