According to a report from GTV News "Balitanghali," the suspect suddenly entered the establishment and grabbed the employee before threatening her with a bladed weapon.

Police said the man insisted that he only acted out of fear. He reportedly told authorities that someone was after him, which led him to use the woman as protection.

Responding officers immediately rushed to the scene and began negotiating with the suspect. An officer says they carefully approached him so the situation would not escalate. The authorities urged him to surrender without further trouble.

After several minutes of dialogue, the man eventually gave himself up and released the terrified employee. The police arrested him on the spot and brought him to the station for questioning.

However, authorities later confirmed that they were compelled to release him because the victim chose not to file any charges. A spokesperson explains that they had no legal grounds to keep him in custody once the complainant declined to pursue the case.

Police added that they plan to turn the man over to the social welfare department. Officials say he has nowhere to go after recently being released from jail. They also noted that he did not issue any statement about why he stormed into the shop or why he targeted the female staff.

Despite the alarming incident, investigators assured the public that follow-up assessments will be conducted to determine the man’s condition and ensure the safety of the community.
