Call center agent on motorcycle dies after avoiding a stone and being rolled over by an L300 van

A motorcycle rider died after he tried to avoid a rock and slid under an incoming L300 van in Rodriguez, Rizal.

The accident happened on a downhill and curved part of Payatas Road in Barangay San Jose.

Police said the rider was going uphill while the L300 van was coming from the opposite lane.

Police Master Sergeant Andrew Deo explained that the rider swerved to avoid a rock, lost his balance, and slid into the path of the van.

He said the van hit the motorcycle, and the rider ended up under the vehicle.

Responders found him unconscious but still with a pulse.

He was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Deo added that the rock on the road may have fallen from passing trucks. Police arrested the 48-year-old driver of the L300 van.

The driver said they were on their way to look for rice for their family business when the rider suddenly slid under the van.

He said he hit the brakes but could not avoid the collision. He also expressed hope that the victim’s family might forgive him, saying it was an accident.

The victim is now being mourned in their home in Barangay San Jose.

His father said his son, a call center agent, was on his way to work when the crash happened.

Their family is grieving deeply. The driver is currently detained at the custodial facility of the Rodriguez Municipal Police Station and is facing a case for reckless imprudence resulting in hom!cide and damage to property.

Police authorities said the school has a security guard, but, being a familiar face in the school, the suspect managed to easily get in and out of the school. The suspect said he was there to talk to his wife and settle their misunderstanding, but unfortunately, it led to a big arguement.
