Through an Instagram Story, Sam shared a news card featuring the viral statement of DTI Secretary Maria Cristina Roque, alongside his own pointed commentary.
The news card he reposted carried Secretary Roque’s quote, which has been the center of nationwide debate: “Kung tutuusin P500, makakabili na kayo ng ham. Makakagawa ka na ng macaroni salad, makakagawa ka na rin ng spaghetti, depende rin po ’yan kung ilan ‘yung taong kakain.” The remark has drawn criticism from Filipinos who argue that current market prices make such a budget nearly impossible for a traditional Christmas meal.
In the Story, Sam highlighted his disbelief with a bold message placed above the card, writing, “After trillions in kurakot, P500 na lang pang Noche Buena ng tao. Wow. Just wow.”
